Glencairn named official whisky glass of the Distilled Spirits Council

The Scottish whisky glass becomes the official tasting glass for distilled spirits of the US Trade Organization

The Scottish family-run crystal glass company announced that its legendary Glencairn whisky glass has been selected as the organisation's official tasting glass by the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States. The partnership will be unveiled at the Distilled Spirits Council's Halloween media party at the end of October 2018 and at a series of high-profile tasting events hosted by the association. These include events in New York and Washington, DC to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the end of prohibition.

The custom-made Glencairn glasses carry the new logo of the trade organization and its slogan "Celebrate life, responsibly!" In addition, they have an engraving with the 1.5 oz calibration mark (approx. 44 ml). This US standard dosage of spirits confirms the commitment of the spirits industry to responsible and moderate drinking. Frank Coleman, Senior Vice President, Distilled Spirits Council, said: "These special Glencairn tasting glasses are works of art befitting our members finest products."

Scott Davidson, new product development director at Glencairn Crystal, said: "We are delighted to have been selected as the official partner for the tasting glasses by such a prestigious and influential organisation of the US drinks industry." As the latest member of the Glencairn founding family, Davidson was elected as Keeper of the Quaich at Blaire Castle in early October, following his father Raymond, who was admitted to this elite circle in 2016.
