Glenallachie appoints Richard Beattie as Operations Director
Since July 2017 The Glenallachie Distillers Company, led by Billy Walker, is owner of the distillery
The Glenallachie Distillers Company completes its management team and appointed Richard Beattie as new Operations Manager. Before Beattie was Director of Distilling at Mossburn Distillers Ltd. The company owns the Japanese Akashi Distillery and the brandnew Torabhaig Distillery on the Isle of Skye.
A career in the whisky business
Richard Beattie can look back on thirty years of experience in the whisky business. With the new position at Glenallachie he returns to the geographical roots of his management career: Here in the Speyside he started his first job as a Distillery Manager in 1991 at Speyside Distillery. Positions as Distilling Sales Director at Anglia Maltings and Business Developing Manager at Briggs of Burton followed before he went to Mossburn Distillers.
A second successful development-project?
Billy Walker and the Glenallachie Distillers Company want to bring a breath of fresh air to the distillery and new glory to its whisky. Walker already successfully completed another distillery project: In 2002 he and two partners bought the mothballed Benriach Distillery and re-activated it. Glendronach and Glenglassaugh came in and in 2016 New Glenallachie bottlings in sight Together with the distillery, built in 1967, the consortium took over the whisky stock in the warehouses and three labels: The single malt Glenallachie that soon will be newly released from its new owners and the new Operations Director Richard Beattie and the two blends White Heather and MacNairs’s.
