German Whisky Day celebrated on June 27, 2020

For the fourth time a special day is dedicated to German whisky

Next Saturday, June 27, 2020, German whisky will be brought into a special focus: For the fourth time, the German Whisky Day, launched by the Verband Deutscher Whiskybrenner VDW (Association of German Whisky Distillers) will be celebrated. It’s always the last Saturday in June that is dedicated to the German “Water of Life”.

Many whisky distilleries open their doors for visits, workshops or live distilling and also some dealers and clubs join with tastings or other offers. The website of the Verband Deutscher Whiskybrenner provides information about organized events. There is also background information on the association's whisky distilleries, now 41 in number. They reflect the wide variety of the German whisky scene, which is internationally recognized meanwhile.  Six supporting members as well are engaged in the VDW.

There are even more events than the VDW informs about, those who are interested in visiting an event should get in contact with a preferred distillery. The possibilities and conditions for events are currently very different from region to region due to the COVID-19 situation and participating distilleries are of course obliged to ensure maximum safety. If you can’t take part by visiting a special event because you don’t live in Germany you might perhaps join by opening a bottle of German whisky and enjoying a dram at home.
