Double-digit sales increase for Tomatin
Highland Scotch Whisky Distillery Tomatin increased its turnover in the last financial year by almost 25%
Another superlative for whisky from Scotland and an unmistakable sign that the boom is continuing: Located in the Scottish Highlands near Inverness, Tomatin Distillery reported turnover of £18m for the year ending 31 December 2017, up almost 25% from £14.5m in 2016. Turnover is one thing, profit is another, but a much more important financial result for a business enterprise. But here too, the Highlanders are strong: profit before tax rose 14% in 2017 to £4.03m compared to £3.53m in the previous year.
In addition, the turnover of the distillery's visitor centre has exceeded £1m for the first time since it opened and has become an important revenue stream for Tomatin. Stephen Bremner, who recently took over the position of Managing Director after 10 years as the Sales Director, proudly stated: "This is a very exciting time for Tomatin. In the past few years we have gained a solid foothold in the international whisky market, particularly with our branded products."
Double Gold for Tomatin 18 Year Old
The Tomatin portfolio has strengthened internationally and further consolidated its reputation as a globally recognized whisky brand. The company recorded its strongest sales in the UK, USA and Germany in particular. The Tomatin 18 Year Old, matured in traditional oak casks and finished in Oloroso Sherry butts, is one of the guarantors of economic success. This 18-year-old single malt from the core range has been awarded with "Double Gold" at the San Francisco World Spirit Competition 2018 for the fifth time. This high-quality single malt develops honey and soft oak flavours, with a hint of dark chocolate and citrus notes, followed by a sustained sweet and slightly dry finish.
Stephen was thrilled: "We are delighted that our whiskies were awarded not only Silver and Gold medals, but also Double Gold at these prestigious awards." Tomatin's trophy cabinet bursts with awards and prizes, including winning "Distiller of the Year 2016" and "Brand Innovator of the Year 2017" at the Icons of Whisky Awards. Tomatin is currently ranked in the Top 10 single malt brands in the USA and are one of the fastest growing brands in the UK.
