Cotswolds Distillery opened new visitor center
The young English distillery is on expansion course
The English Cotswolds Distillery is located in the heart of the Cotswolds near Shipston-on-Stour. Founded in September 2014, the distillery is growing steadily, proud to have received several international awards for their gin and the whisky, launched in 2017, and to have become a popular destination for visitors.
An enrichment for the region
With around 30,000 visitors a year, a larger visitor center soon was planned. It is a very rural area and visitors come a long way to visit the distillery. They should have the opportunity to sit down in a nice atmosphere, relax and have a cup of tea or coffee, CEO Daniel Szor and his team decided. With crowdfunding they raised the necessary £2 million within a short period of time - 10 percent of the costs were covered by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. Crowdfunding has been important for the Cotswolds Distillery since the beginning and has recently financed the own bottling plant on the distillery site. And now a visitor center followed.
A spacious visitor center with a cozy atmosphere
The building was constructed to be a connecting element between the production building and the building that house administration and laboratories and – so far – the shop and a small visitor center. In addition to a new shop, a cozy café and an exhibition area, tasting rooms have now found their place in the new, spacious visitor center. In addition to the classic distillery tour, which is offered three times a day, seven days a week, Gin and Whiskey Blending Master Classes are now also available once a month. More information can be found on the website of the distillery.
A promising start on the whisky market
The Cotswolds Single Malt Whisky is meanwhile present on international markets and the still young products have already been awarded several prices and titles. In addition to the main bottling of the distillery, the Cotswolds Single Malt Whisky, a small batch release from Ex-Bourbon and STR red wine casks, the Cotswolds Founders Choice, only matured in red wine casks, is also available.
