Coming soon: Direct flights from Edinburgh to whisky-island Islay

Loganair will offer another regularly flight connection from 31st March 2019

Most visitors of Islay arrive by ferry at Port Ellen or Port Askaig, starting at Kennacraig on the mainland. Some prefer taking the plane and flying with Loganair from Glasgow to Glenegadale on Islay in just 40 minutes. From 31st March 2019 Loganair will expand its schedule and also start from Edinburgh heading to Islay.

The flight with the 34-seater plane will take 45 minutes and will be offered daily during the high season as the Islay Blog reported here some days ago. Price for a single journey will start from 80 pounds. This will be no all year offer, Loganair will operate the route Edinburgh – Islay only from 31st March to 26th October.

So whisky fans can plan their next Scotland tour a bit more flexible if they want to visit Islay by plane and chose either Edinburgh or Glasgow as their departure or destination airport. And there’s probably no whisky fan who doesn’t want to see Islay one day and visit one or two or nine distilleries…
