Brendan McCarron leaves Glenmorangie and joins Distell

As master distiller he is now in charge of Bunnahabhain, Deanston and Tobermory

Since Brendan McCarron published the news on social media in early March, the whisky world has already known about his move from Glenmorangie to the Distell company. A press release on this personality has meanwhile been published and he has officially been welcomed by Distill at the Fèis Ìle Festival.

End of 2015 Brendan McCarron was announced to be designated successor to Dr. Bill Lumsden by Glenmorangie, where he had been Head of Maturing Whiskey Stocks since 2014. The search for a suitable future Director of Distilling and Whisky Creation will now begin again there.

The Distell company is lucky to have found a new master distiller in Brendan McCarron. He is now responsible for the whisky production of the single malts from Bunnahabhain, Deanston and Tobermory and also the blended malt Black Bottle. He will join the senior team, which includes as well Master Blender Julieann Fernandez and Bunnahabhain Distillery Manager Andrew Brown.

Brendan McCarron is taking over the duties of his predecessor Stephen Woodcock, who is now Head of Whisky Creation and Stocks at Glen Moray.
