Scottish family business launches its first in-house American whiskey brand, Fistful of Bourbon

The Scottish company's first "from the ground up" American whiskey bottling is a blend of five straight bourbons – literally a handful – each aged in barrels for at least two years and selected according to their individual flavour profiles. Hence its name: Fistful of Bourbon!

100% Straight Bourbon

Fistful of Bourbon is a 100 percent straight American whiskey composed by Master Blender Brian Kinsman and Kelsey McKechnie after tasting a variety of straight bourbons from all over America. As one would expect from a full-bodied bourbon, the whiskey has five distinct flavours: balanced and sweet; green, leafy floral notes; soft spices and hints of nutmeg; buttery toffee; cinnamon and liquorice.

First Texas, then the whole world

"There is an art and science to blending – and Fistful is a successful balance of both," says Blender McKechnie. "Our creative process combined the art of nosing along with our vision for whiskey and the science of blending different bourbons to create a unique taste." Bottled at 45% abv, Fistful of Bourbon will be launched exclusively in Texas this week for around US$25 (750 ml) before it will gradually be available throughout the USA and the rest of the world.

Fistful of Bourbon is the second American whiskey brand by William Grant & Sons, which also owns Tuthilltown Spirits Distillery, the producer of Hudson whiskey, in New York.
