Big Peat is giving away a unique special edition for the benefit of Ukraine: 99% is Port Ellen whisky

Participation in a raffle is still possible until May 31, 2022

Independent bottler Douglas Laing is currently running a remarkable raffle: They have filled a single bottle of Big Peat Blended Malt as a special edition, which is offered on the website of the family company. You can take part in the campaign until May 31, 2022 and donate £5 (currently € 6.14). The names of all donors end up in a lottery pot, from which the lucky winner of the bottle is then drawn.

Big Peat Blended Malt Whisky is blended from peated whisky from the Isle of Islay. Caol Ila, Bowmore, Ardbeg and Port Ellen can be found in the Big Peat. The proportion of Port Ellen whisky in the standard Big Peat bottlings should be negligible, but for this "one of one" bottle Douglas Laing has changed the blend ratio extremely: 99% of the whisky used comes from the former Port Ellen Distillery, the current press release explains.

All proceeds from the Big Peat raffle will go to the Disaster Emergency Committee’s Ukrainian Humanitarian Appeal to provide food, water and medical assistance to support families fleeing conflict.

If a competitor from a European country wins, they will incur a delivery cost of £24 - an amount that the lucky winner will no doubt be happy to pay. Participants from the UK and EU countries do not have to pay customs duty, Douglas Laing informs.

You will find the website with the raffle here.
