Glenmorangie 12 Years Quinta Ruban
This single malt was ripened in port wine barrels. Spicy notes develop with some water. The finish is gentle, soft and long. The old Port Wood Finish was a favorite with connoisseurs.

With time - and some whisky-legs evaporation -

Finish:

Comment: The Glenmorangie's Quinta Ruban is ALL sweetness & fruit on the nose. It easily makes for a dessert in its own right.
In its finish, this whisky offers an starkly different profile. The sweetness remains present, and even lingers a bit on the back & sides of the tongue. But savory & bitter notes then appear that would be nearly impossible to guess at based upon the whisky's nose and taste.
It is easy to rate the Quinta Ruban highly on its quality alone. A festival of flavor and scent. Add to this its relatively low price, and less than top marks is not an option.
And the faint ruby tint to the whisky is quite tantalizing.

Pleasant and very volatile. First nosing brings a lot of sweetness of fruits, dark chocolate notes, vanila and some nuts (wallnuts?). Initially clear tones of raisins.
Taste:

Perfectly smooth and silky. At the beginnihg fruity sweetness of dried fruits moves slightly into direction of sweet zitrus fruits and finally turns into good taste of dark chocolate with nuts and
Finish:

Rather long finish with aftertaste if chocolate and wallnuts.
Comment: This whisky has beautiful color of a dark, redish amber. This is not a cheap whisky, but still pretty affordable and definitelly worth its price.
5 out of 5 - I just love it.

Finish:
Medium to Long, sweet and pleasant.
Comment:
This is simply the best dram I've tried in my short experience with Scotch. I'm glad I got to taste before I buy this one.
