Sweet aromatics of fudge and muscovado sugar. Fruit compote and glacier morello cherries provide added complexity
Taste:
Rich dark and seductive. Remarkable flavours of stewed fruits and all-spice marry together with classical aged Oloroso and toasted walnut bread and chocolate orange
Finish:
Tremendously complex and long
RATING: 4.4/5.0 ≙ 90 pts

Sherry, stewed dark fruits, morello cherry, oranges. Some spiciness, cinnamon and clove.
Taste:

Rich, balanced arrival. Fruitiness with orange immediately turns dry, with lots and lots of oak. Lots of concentrated dried fruits throughout.
Finish:
Long and spicy, but not peppery. Some intense orange peel notes showing through.
Comment:
This is an interesting one. The nose is quite frankly about as good as I can remember encountering in any sherried malt. It's complex and inviting. On the palate, it is very intense. Lots and lots of concentrated dried fruit flavours and bags of oak - initially overpowering, but once you acclimatize everyting balances out. The finish is long and interesting. However, if you aren't a fan of dry finishes, this is not for you. There's an initial burst of sweetness, but the character of this malt in general is very dry. It is expensive, but there's quality on show here, and I can tell that there is some whisky in this which is significantly older than 18 years. Something worth trying, but won't necessarily be to everyone's tastes.

Comment: Great whisky. It taste so delicate, so smooth. Even for people who prefer peat than sherry this is a very nice dram. So powerful in taste. Lingering aftertaste which stay with this strong tea like covering. The only minus for me is that strong aftertaste fading out quite quickly. Very smooth, easy ad pleasant dram.

Taste: powerful

Comment: The deep, dark color of The GlenDronach 18-year old expression plays it's part well in projecting a first impression of quality.
There is a refreshing lack of sugar sweetness, or even honey (though I am fan of honey), in this whisky. There is absolutely a sweet character, but it manifests almost entirely as fruit influences.
I find that many sherried whiskies disappoint on the palate even if sensational on the nose. Not so with The GlenDronach 18-year old. It fires on all cylinders from first sniff to the tail end of it's lengthy finish.
