Redbreast 15 Years
This is a limited bottling of the popular Redbreast from the Midleton distillery. This Whiskey is similar to the character of the 12 year old, but offers more in every aspect. Brilliant.

Vanilla, caramel. Apricots. Some cereal notes coming through. There's a green note as well, something like grass, or pear skin.
Taste:

Sweet arrival, stays sweet throughout. Initially dried fruits - trail mix. Transitions into fresher fruit, that apricot again. Then oak cask comes forward .Vanilla caramel notes throughout.
Finish:

Long and drying over time. Plenty of oak, though more woody than spicy. There's a light metallic note in there, sort of like you get from licking a copper coin.
Comment:
Buying this was a choice to try more mature irish whisky than I've had previously. The additional aging certainly lends it some character. The nose and palate are good, the nose could maybe be a little more intense. The finish is ok, but a little on dimensional other than that metallic note. Competent, but given the price I probably won't come back to it.
83/100
