Laphroaig 10 Years
This famous Malt has an extremely smoky flavor with a hint of seaweed and other marine flavours. It is one of the most intense Islay malts. You hate it or you love it.

Finish: Medium

Taste: Bam, the smoke hits you first, with the seaweed and iodine a close second, no fruit or chocolate taste in this one, just smoke, salt, a little sweetness, it tastes to me almost identical to the way it smells. Not super complex, not overpowering, but significantly original. This is truly a like it or don't dram, and I like it. I like it a lot.

Finish: Nice long finish that drags on with the same smokey, medicinal, iodine taste. Not chemically, like many cheaper malts, but with the honest nature of the whisky. This is nice.

Comment:This dram was my introduction to peat, and I still love it. With that disclaimer, I like this as a simple islay, there are no multitude of hidden flavors, like Lagavulin, Ardbeg, or Port Charlotte.... This is a simple dram that is pleasant and predictable. This is my daily dram, unless of course I wish to taste something for review prior.

Taste: Smokey and strong. Taste of salt air without being briny. Menthol and medicinal. Slightly harsh.
Finish: Medium finish.

Comment: Like BBQ’ing chicken/pork and inhaling the smoke from the BBQ deeply into your nose. Then once the charcoal has cooled, you douse it in whisky and lick the ones that have soaked up the most drippings from the meat. A wonderful mix of smoke, with salty/iodine-y/ brinyness with a HINT of sweetness. Smoke lingers on your tongue forever. I don’t know why I like it, but I do. Excellent.
