Hi everyone,
I have a 700ml bottle of 17 year old Hibiki - mount fuji limited edition. I bought this on a trip to Japan, I think in 2013 (can't remember exactly) after trying it in a bar. I recently had an estimate at auction of £1,500 - £1,900 GBP, which was surprising to me as I only remember paying around £70 at the time. In the process of getting some more quotes as I don't quite believe it still...
Does anyone know much about these bottles? Mainly interested in the reason behind the appreciation and if prices are likely to continue etc.
Any information is welcome, look forward to hearing your thoughts!
Many thanks!
@James495 Suntory announced last year that they were discontinuing the Hibiki 17, so scarcity will drive up the price
@Fo
Thanks for your response! I had some further information from one of the auction houses and this does seem to be the sole reason. Seems crazy to me, but I'll just count my blessings!
