Hi everyone,
I just received a Cardhu 15y as a gift. When tasting it I found it to have a very bitter aftertaste. Is this a distillery character or has just a lot of refill casks been used in the process of maturation? Are there anyone who knows the answer to this question?

Cardhu never overwhelmed me, to be honest. Refill cask bitterness seems to be the most obvious explanation.
I tried the 15-year-old expression at the distillery and found it the best of the range. Still not a very spectacular malt. But hey, if it was a gift...

Now it is a gift sitting on the shelf untouched waiting for someone to drink it. I was also quite underwhelmed by the Cardhu. There is much better whiskies around.
