Just ordered this online and hearing about same barley as Macallan use.Flavours of Cinnamon,Apple,Honey,Malt,Cream,Oak....Mmmmmmm...cant wait.Had never even heard of this whisky till half an hour ago.Very reputable i think.18 sounds very good too!
@Highlander I'm curious to try Glengoyne, especially the 18 YO. Glendronach and Glenmorangie are also on my list. Let us know what you think!
@Edward_Holliday My Glengoyne 15 due to arrive today....i think its a 43%,like the 18 but not as dark!Glendronachs look good...especially the 15 Revival i think, but very expensive.Glenmorangie, finished off a bottle 6 weeks ago,is yer typical floral, fruity, bland Highland malt....there are older, darker ones, but they get rather overpriced!Waiting for a Glenfiddich Solera to arrive too which ralfy.com really liked.Dalmores and Balvenies and Lagavulin 8....all on wishlist!
Glenmorangie 18 is not what one would call a sherry bomb. it is aged in ex-bourbon until 15 yo upon which 30% are transferred to a 3 year sherry aging (3 years would be aging and not finishing) and then all remarried upon 18 yo.
@hwchoy Interesting. Would Glengoyne 18YO and Glendronach 18YO be considered sherry bombs?
GlenDronach 18 yes, Glengoyne 18 probably not as heavily sherried as GlenDronach.
