Distillery visits in late December

Hi all,

Total newbie here.

I am bringing my dad to Speyside for his 60th as he is big into his whiskeys. I am going from the 27th to the 29th of December. One HUGE question that I´m having trouble getting an answer to in the conventional ways, will the distilleries be open then???????????????????

@Peterbt11188 Unfortunately, many distilleries are not only closed for tours during the winter, but are also closed between Christmas and New Years.

Your best shot might be with the big players: Glenlivet, Macallan, Glenfiddich, etc. I checked their sites, and it looks like Macallan and Glenfiddich have tours available then. But BOOK IN ADVANCE. You would hate to get to the front door only to find out that the tours are sold out. Plus, it will help you with logistics and the like.

@Peterbt11188 I just happened to stumble on something that might interest you as well. Castle Dornoch Hotel, north of Inverness, not only looks cool but is supposed to have one of the best whisky bars around...http://www.dornochcastlehotel.com/whisky/

You will find a map with all the distilleries here in our whisky database. Just zoom into the map and select the particular distillery.
