Hello all. I want to get more experienced with whiskey and I decided to start with bourbon. YouTube tells me Makers Mark is a good starting point. Since I am hoping to try other brands in the future, is there any reason not to start with the 375oz bottles instead of the larger ones? Is Makers a good starting point? Thanks for your time.

Makers Mark is a good starting point for those new to bourbon. It is a "wheater" (made from corn, wheat, and malted barley, whereas most other bourbons substitute rye for the wheat), which gives it a smoother, less spicy flavor. I enjoy high-rye bourbons and rye whiskeys, but Makers Mark is still one of my favorites.

The 375 ml bottles are great for trying new whiskeys, and miniatures are even better.

Thanks for the reply. I hadn't considered miniatures. I will check them out too.
