    Greetings to all,

I'm drinking single malt for about 6 months. The bottles I bought were, in order:
    1. Balvenie doublewood 12
    2. Lagavulin 16
    3. Balvenie Single Barrel 15 (bourbon cask)

    In order of my preference:
    1. Lagavulin 16
    2. Balvenie doublewood 12
    3. Balvenie Single Barrel 15 (bourbon cask)

I ask you 2 tips, if you please:

1 - I'm looking to buy a single malt in the line of Lagavulin, wm your opinion what is the best option?

2 - Which should be my next Balvenie? Single Barrel 15 (Sherry) or Doublewood 17?

    Thank you so much!

    Greetings from Portugal!

1: ardbeg uigeadail or Talisker distillers edition. Horst has done good reviews on both of these. I like the Talisker a little better, but both in my opinion are a step up from the laga 16. I heard the lagavulin distillers edition is good, but I haven't tried it yet.

2: if you're looking for a more traditional Balvenie, I'd go with the 17 year. If you're thinking of the 15 yr Sherry because you want to introduce yourself to sherried whiskies, I would go with an aberlour 16. It will be more affordable and, in my opinion is a more enjoyable scotch.

3: if you REALLY want to spend some money on a good Balvenie, get the 21 year portwood... the perfect bottle for the Portuguese scotch lover 8)

    Thanks a lot Kroman!

The Balvenie 21 should be excellent, the only disadvantage is the price...

Yes, but I agree that a Portuguese single malt lover should have one in his collection.

Talisker 10, Talisker DE, Glenlivet 18 (more mellow but full) are good choice. Also HP 12 is something you have to try.

    Thank you all.

    Last monday just bought:

    Highland Park 12
    Aberlour 16

For the next, think it will be:

    Ardbeg uigeadail
    Talisker distillers edition
    Glenmorangie quinta ruban

    Greetings from Portugal.

there is now a 21 years PortWood and a 21 years Madeira Cask. the latter much more expensive than the already expensive PortWood.

Put Glendronach Single Cask on your list. I've tried it and now can't drink anything else  Lagavulin 16 is my second favourite.
