Greetings all,Which in your opinion is the best single malt from Islay? Thanks.Greetings from PortugalHugo Henriques
My favorite Islay whisky...? Without question, Bunnahabhain 18. My favorite peated Islay whisky is ardbeg uigeadail. Although an island whisky, and therefore not an Islay, I really like the Talisker Distiller's Edition as well. It has the same nose, taste, and finish as typical Islay whiskies, so that's why I'm adding it.
It would very much depend on what you were wanting from the dram, Islay is usually linked to heavily peated whisky, and there are some cracking peated drams, most distilleries have something good on offer, from Laphroaig Lore, Ardbeg Uigadail and Bruchladdich Octomore, through to Caol Ila, Lagavulin, Bowmore and Kilchoman. But there is also much more besides to Islay, especially when you look at the unpeated drams that are also available. One of my personal favourite Islay's is the Laddie 22YO, unpeated and absolutely fantastic, really smooth.Overall it comes down to personal choice, the 'best' is at best a subjective personal favourite rather than any one bottle that outshines the rest, be guided by others opinions, but then sample and make your own mind up for yourself
For me it would have to be the Lagavulin 16 year old.
I like the Laphroaigs, PX and Quarter casks as well as the 18 years.
I like the Lagavulin PX and Bowmore 18 most.
Lagavulin Distiller's Edition is an absolute stunner. It may have surpassed Talisker 10 as my all-time favourite.
Thanks All!Greetings from Portugal.Hugo Henriques
