Balvenie DW 12 was my first whisky and was good, i then opened a bottle of Glefiddich 18 and it was much better in my opinion. I have since opened and tasted Bowmore 18 and wow not for me. I have some other bottles but not opening yet anyone recommend some i might like comparable to the Glen 18? Thansk

If the Bowmore is not for you, then it might be because of the peaty characteristics that you get with most scotches from Islay. Islay scotches are known for their medicinal, smokey nose and palate. Ironically, I would recommend you try a Bunnahabhain (boo-na-HA-ven) 18 year. Although it's from Islay, the 18 year doesn't have much of a smokey flavor. Instead you get a good amount of sherry, dark fruits, and toasted nuts (hazelnut...?). It's a very complex, yet enjoyable dram!

I picked up a bottle of Glendronach 15 to try and love it. Great dram.
