In October 2019, during a visit to the Glenfarclas Distillery, I was able to purchase a 70cl bottle of the 1994 Chancellor's Cask for about 300GBP. An excellent price, I thought. I had a taste of it at the distillery, and it was magnificent. Now is my problem. Only 275 bottles came out of that hogshead. Auction prices are now between 450-550GBP. Should I keep the bottle for the investment value, or simply open it and enjoy it for what it really is, a fine dram. https://www.just-whisky.co.uk/october-2019/79410-glenfarclas-1994-2019-the-chancellor-s-cask.html

It's an interesting question. Normally I'm against buying whisky as an investment, but in this case I'd be thinking to myself "Would I rather have this or 5 bottles of Glenfarclas 25?".
Alternatively, you can hold on to it of course for a special occasion, a wedding, significant family birthday etc.
Either way, good luck to you in what you pick!
