King's Ransom - William Whitely - ceramic bottle - Anyone know?

My 85 year old father fished from the depths of his liquor cabinet, a very old, untouched, sealed King's Ransom whisky bottle. It's in it's original box and original ceramic? bottle. He said its been there for at least 50 years. He said he spent a pretty penny on it back in the day as it was one of the best you could get at the time

We were about to open it and have a tipple or two, when I thought I should have a quick look on the Google and see what others had said about such a drop. Can't find it anywhere!

So we decided to keep the bottle as is (and have something else instead. 

Do anyone know of this whisky, its heritage and value?
