Hey all,
Decided to dip my toe in some different American whiskeys and got a hold of the Woodford Reserve Straight Rye. It seems to have an almost overpowering aroma and flavour of horseradish. Is this something that is common with rye whiskey or is this more of a distillery specific thing?
@TheGreatMothra
my Rye experience is slim. But George Dickel Rye, while spicy, doesn’t have anything I would consider approaching horseradish notes.
@TheGreatMothra Rye whiskeys have strong to spicy tastes due to the cereal used. I found some very sharp notes in Canadian Ryes. They produce it much stronger because they use it for their blends (and need less to add ;-) )
