Sauternes finished/matured whiskies

    I tried the Glenmorangie Nectar D'Or and I expected the flavour of Sauternes but I did not get so much flavour from this whisky. Me and my friends thought it tasted less then the Glenmorangie 10 year old. I was quite disappointed so when I opened my bottle of Edradour vintage 2005 which has been fully matured in Sauternes casks I had a slight fear that this would be a disappointment also.However, instead it has all the flavours that I would expect from a Sauternes matured wine. It tasted really good and i could really feel the Sauternes influnce. 


    So now I am wondering if we had gotten a faulty bottle of the Glenmorangie Nectar D'Or since it missed all the taste that we were expecting.


    Does anyone has any other recommendations for Sauternes finished/matured whiskies that showcases the Sauternes?


    Also, how common is it to get a faulty bottle?
