Hi all, looking for some advice , I have found a James B. Beam cask lid and was wondering if it is rare ?
@yasemily
Perhaps you can post a picture of it? There are a lot of casks of Jim Beam at different distilleries in the world. The reason for this is a law in the US, that you have to use fresh, juvenile casks for the maturation of Straight Bourbon.
After a maturation for 36 or 48 month every cask of Jim Beam can't be used to mature another Straight Bourbon. So they are regularly used in the Scotch whisky industry for the maturation of Scotch. After 30 years of use these casks are then typically dumped. Your lid may come from one of these casks.
