Crown royal reserve- nice surprise

    Just cracked open my bottle of crown royal reserve. Was avoiding opening it cause wasn't expecting much from it. But I am pleasantly surprised. It's good. 

    My initial impressions:

    Nose: Aromatic bourbony nose, stewed apple, butterscotch, honey, oak and spices in the background. Alcohol. 

    Taste: sweet, rye spices, minty, reminds me of Four Roses Small Batch. Nutty. 

    Finish: rye spices, medium long.

    Very nice and easy drinking. Your thoughts?

    I had a bottle last year that I enjoyed very much. It is a whisky to spend some time with to tease out its nuances.
