The best in my collection is a Signatory Mortlach 25 year Sherry Finish Single Cask, this is for special occasions and it is incredible whisky.. Nothing too crazy...Highland Park 12, Laphroiag 10, Laphroiag 10 Cask Strength, Big Peat, John McDougall 13 Year Islay Vatted Malt Blend, Aberfeldy 12, Old Pulteney 17, JW Green Label, JW Black Label, Buchanans 18, Lagavulin 16 Distiller's Edition, Cadenhead Caol Ila 10 year Single Cask, Clynelish 14, just drained the last drops of the Glenfarclas 21...cheers!
@Shmotch that's quite the shelf! my budget and shelf is much more modest, but it gets the job done. Glendronach 12, Talisker Port Ruighe, Edradour Straight from the cask Marsala Finish, Arran 14, and Bruichladdie Port Charlotte Islay Barley
@kroman
nice, I am at a good spot now, been collecting a few bottles the past couple of months with the wife's consent lol, I actually just finished up a 2008 Port Charlotte, good stuff, a meaty peat, I hear good things about the Glendronach 12
@Shmotch
Opened and drinking: Larceny, Sazerac Rye, Palm Ridge Reserve, George Dickel No.12, Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old, Compass Box Great King Street Glasgow Blend, Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye, Yellow Spot, Paddy, and Nikka Coffey Grain.
Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strenght 10 years, Ledaig 10, Laphroaig 10, Bowmore Darkest 15.
@Carlton
how do you like the Glasgow blend?
@hwchoy
I am really enjoying it (having it tonight, as a matter of fact). It has quite a hefty dose of Laphroaig.
@Carlton
unfortunately I only get Hedonism, Peat Monster and Spice Tree here for now. hopefully will see GKS soon.
@hwchoy
I expect you know about the unsuccessful transparency campaign that Compass Box was waging in an effort to be able to fully disclose details of the ages of all component whiskies in their blends. While they can't disclose age details of individual component whiskies on their labels or in their marketing materials, they can respond to requests from customers. Their website has all of the details of the component whiskies in each blend, except the ages, but you can email a request for a particular whisky and receive an immediate reply by email with all of the age info.
They put together some high-quality blends. Maybe GKS will make it to Singapore soon.
@Carlton
actually I as referring to the duty free shops. in the city there are specialised shops (I just found out) with quite a broad range of Compass Box including the GKS. but liquor duty is extremely high in Singapore at GBP25 per litre alcohol and a 7% GST on top of that duty!
I did ask them about my 2016 batch of Hedonism. they responded with the distilleries and bottles, but not the age nor proportion.
@hwchoy
That is a massive amount of tax! I can see why you prefer to buy from the duty free shops.
I was able to get the age detail for Hedonism from Compass Box. After you went to Hedonism on the Compass Box website, did you click on the request age info button? That should have sent you an email with the ages of the three parcels (as they call them) in the body of the email and the distilleries & percentage of total for each parcel in an attachment to the email (also on the website).
