Hi guys,
What are your recommendations for my very first Cask strength single malt.
My only requirement is to be below 60 E.
Thanks.
Well, there are many options...
Aberlour A'bunadh
Glenfarclas 105
Springbank 12 Cask Strength
... or do you rather prefere a peaty one?
Ardbeg Uigeadail
Lagavulin 12 Special Release
If you have a preferred distillery, you could also check for independent bottlings. Most are non-chill filtered and at higher ABV.
I'd probably start with a 5 cl miniature or 35 cl bottle of Glenfarclas 105. Good value for money.
Cheers!

@DaFin
If you can find a bottle, Glenlivet Nadurra 16 year old is very good.
@DaFinIt depends on your taste. For smoky I would recommend the lagavulin 12 YO or the Laphroiag 10 yo Cask strength.
For sherry bombs either the Aberlour A'bunadh or Glenfarclas 105.
Thank you all for your recommendations. I checked video reviews of them and now the hard work is to choose one.
Please do not forget to experiment with still water to reduce the strength. But please be careful. Some whiskies develop different tastes - other become watery.
@Carlton
I fear the Nadurra 16 year cask strength will be very very hard to find by now. also in the USA it is not cask strength but reduced to 48% abv.
@hwchoy
Sadly, it is hard to find. I saw a bottle recently that I probably will regret not buying. We did get the 16 year-old Nadurra at cask-strength in the USA, but I remember a version at 48% made from Triumph barley.
@Carlton
my last bottle of Nadurra 16 yo was 54.9% abv but it felt a lot more intense than the 58.7% abv of the Kavalan Solist ex-Bourbon, which I drank neat without noticing the abv.
@hwchoy
Funny how that works sometimes. I am amazed at what Kavalan is doing with short maturations.
@Carlton
It's most likely the climate. I read they have about 15-18% angels share each year. No wonder they are avoiding age statements. How much would be left in a cask after 10-12 years?
