Is there a better alternative than the stopper/cork tightly replaced to preventing evaporation and preserving single malts, please… decanters? Equipment?

    Thanks!

You could try something like Vacuvin - I've been told this works quite well, especially if you don't open your bottles regularly.
As for my own experiences - I don't use any preservation technique, not even parafilm, on my open (or closed) bottles - never had any problems at all... even though at about 160 open bottles there are some that have been open for a long time (years).

    SanctTom,

Thanks so much for your helpful reply!

I actually use VacuVin for wines… not recommended for more than a week. For that it does work well.

But if there's no risk with a presumably more volatile (because higher in ABV) spirit, I'll stick to the way the manufacturer implicitly recommends .

    Appreciated…

I have a few bottles that have been open for over a decade, I haven't noticed any degradation in quality, or taste. Some I would say tase slightly better. I use vacuum caps too, but only on bottles with failed corks.

This is a coincidence. Tomorrow Horst will publish a Video about Sealing a bottle of opened whisky.

Thanks very much, Ben; although I'm satisfied with - and grateful for - the replies that people have kindly given here, I would like to watch it.

It's private (now?) though. Is there a password etc, please?

    TIA!

No, it was just a Youtube thing. All the not yet published Videos are shown as private.

    Thanks, Ben - Yes

I suspect ParaFilm is only really worth the trouble for hugely expensive bottles left open for months or years. Wouldn't like to have to wrap-rewrap every night.

And anyway - as everyone (here) has kindly said - let the angels have their share: it's minuscule!

    Thanks again…
