Only text on bottle
From above The bottle has imperfections in the glass, a cork top, and a pour spout. The text reads: Jack Daniel's Old No 7 Brand Old Time Tennessee Whiskey I'm guessing it's a replica, as I haven't been able to find it elsewhere on the internet. Any and all help would be appreciated! Last edited by Bruce1337; 12-22-2012 at 05:36 PM. |

Welcome to the Whisky.com Forum! I've upgraded your status. You can post freely now.
That sure looks like a nice find but if that's the original cork, it does look like a replica. Perhaps someone here with more knowledge will add comment. Last edited by michael; 12-22-2012 at 04:27 AM. |

I'm no expert and am only guessing but I doubt that bottle
was an "official" JD release. The pour spout (as well as the etched text and shortened neck) seems more along the lines of a decanter. From what I gather JD went from cylindrical bottles with embossed (raised) lettering to square (JD shape, longer neck) bottles with embossed text to the JD shape bottle with paper labels. There were some other types along the way but I've not come across any etched bottles of this type. But that's not to say it wouldn't be desirable to a JD collector. |

Michael: thanks for your help! Something tells me that the cork I found with the bottle was a replacement...it's not cut symmetrically and just doesn't seem to match the quality of the bottle.
Silverfish: It looks like the etched label is a thin glass film that is overlaid on the bottle. It would explain the imperfections and bubbles in the glass. Last edited by Bruce1337; 12-22-2012 at 08:26 PM. |

This is as far as I can see a Fenton decanter. Produced I believe around the 80-ties or sooner. They were sold at the Hardware and general store in Lynchburg as well as the Opryland hotel in Nasville.
Every once in a while they pop up at E-bay also Cheers, Edwin Last edited by Raapio; 01-06-2013 at 10:29 PM. |

Edwin,
I appreciate your input. It's a shame I can't find more Fenton decanter's for sale, because I'd love to compare it's value. But judging from the label font and style of the decanter, it definitely looks like you're right. I believe this bottle was bought in the late 70s or early 80s, which fits your description as well. Again, thanks for your help! |
