Johnnie(hell!!!! I'am spelling it wrong every time) Walker has red label, black label, green label, blue label and gold label, Dewars has white label. What do these mean, the maturing age of the whisky?

Different labels for Johnnie Walker & Dewar's = different blends & different tastes.
Here's some info straight from the Johnnie Walker company: "The outstanding collection includes Red Label™ - the Vibrant Blend - a favourite choice for celebrating every day. It is a powerful combination of spicy, smoky malts, such as Talisker™, and lingering, lighter grains. Its robust qualities are what make it so good for drinking long." "Black Label™ - the Definitive Blend - a deep and complex flavour. It has a deep and complex flavour which is also an unquestionable mark of power and refinement. It is a luxury blend and a luxury brand, with a completely individual personality." "Gold Label™ - the Luxurious Blend - offers an indulgent experience. The true hedonists of the world freeze their Gold Label™ for 24 hours to release its light fruity flavours and true honey sweetness, as the whisky warms in the mouth." "Blue Label™ - the Rarest Blend - is created from the rarest and most expensive whiskies in the world. It has the authentic character and flavour of a traditional 19th century blend." Dewar's White Label was created by Dewar's first Master Blender A.J. Cameron in 1899. Its secret highly guarded recipe has been passed down from master blender to master blender for over a 100 years! Don't let the "labels" throw you off - they're just used as I guess you'd say different names for the different blends / types of whiskies. All you have to do is read up on each of them to see which ones best suit your taste buds - and wallet! Now after having said all that, I wouldn't mind have a dram of Johnnie Walker Gold Label myself after dinner tonight! |

I think it is just a branding or promotional reason. Colours are effective in making one product more significant than another.
