Johnny Walker Red

I recently acquired an older bottle of Johnny Walker Red. (see attached photos). As you can see it was imported by Sommerset and it has a stamp (small blue) from the Michigan liquor control commission. I have two questions. Firstly, the approximate year it was produced? Second, what happens to scotch in an unopened bottle over time? There appears to be a tiny amount of sedimentation.

Thanks for the photos! We will see if we can have your bottle of Johnnie Walker Red dated. In regard the sediment - has this bottle been kept in a cool environment? If so, this could promote sediment (or haze).

I have no idea where it was stored. I was told it was found hidden in the rafters of an old home after the owner (She) passed. I assumed it was the basement rafters but really I have no knowledge. As far as the sediment goes it is minuscule. The liquor is clear just when you study it carefully from the bottom you are able to detect a tiny swirl.
Can liquor last indefinitely in the bottle?

Based on the design of the labels and the closure being used, your bottle of Johnnie Walker Red has been dated from c1968.

Your JW can "last" indefinitely in the bottle, but keep in mind that even the best sealed bottles eventually allow air to seep in - therefore, the taste of the spirit can alter throughout the years.
