The best Light-bodied single malts

What do you think are some of the best light-bodied single malts?

My favorite is Auchentoshan Triple wood, but your best bet is almost anything from the lowlands.

I LOVE the Macallan's, such a great sweet flavor but with all the subtle fruit and honey/vanilla notes (depends on cask type). I am specifically referring to the Fine Oaks and the Sherry 12's and older. Great taste not to strong or peaty. I have more reviews here!

My personal favorites are Auchentoshan and Tobermory.

Generally the lighter the color of the whisky the lighter the flavor. Lowlands will typically be the lightest scotches as they are less peated if at all during malting. Irish whiskies are malted over oak charcoal so no peat at al and are very light and smooth---Try Clontarf, very tasty and reasonably priced, but make sure it is the single malt and not the blendeds.

Had the opportunity to enjoy a White & White bottled select Glenlivet at cask strength from the remarkable collection at the bar in the Ritz Carlton San Francisco, that was practically as clear as water, very tasty, and as smooth as silk. Haven't been able to find in retail anywhere since, however.

The lightness of the whisky is not always a determinant. There are quite a few Islay whiskies that are not dark. Ardbeg and Laphroaig are light in color yet quite peaty.
