Default Old Dewars Gallon in holder

About ten years ago my Dad gave me one of his old treasures. I have a one gallon bottle of White Label. The tax seal is still on the bottle and reads NY - I - 68. I'm guessing that means 1968. It is held in a brass tilting holder which makes it easy to pour. The brass holder has four round white feet. The bottle is still sealed and has the clear plastic around the top. Under the coat of arms on the label it says By Appointment to Her Majesty The Queen. First - I'm pretty sure the whisky is still fine since it has never been opened, and it has spent most of it's life inside a cabinet and out of the sun. Am I correct? Second --- Is it valuable - other than what it means to my Dad and to me? I appreciate anyone's help on this. Thank you very much, Mike.

Your Dewar's should be fine to drink - the contents won't be unsafe, although over time, it's inevitable air will seep in (even if it's never been opened) and that can alter the taste. As far as worth, unfortunately you're not holding a treasured bottle, except for the fact it was given to you by your father, and that's priceless. Open and enjoy the moment.

Thanks Jojo. My parents 60th wedding anniversary is coming up in a year and a half. I think we'll open it at the party!
