Schenley OFC

I got a bottle of Schenley OFC bottled in 1985, waiting till Christmas with the family before I open it. But I'm wondering what it is worth. I know it's not that old. but from what I read on reviews about it, it sounds pretty good. it the 8 years aged.

It was my Wifes Grandfathers and it was given to me when he passed. thought it would be nice to drink this christmas with the family.

Hello. I also have just come in contact with a bottle of Schenley OFC. This bottle shows it was aged 8 years, and on the back states it was born in 1970 and bottled in 1978. It has two primary seals on the top of the bottle, including an additional seal around the primay cap and bottle. I have no use for this bottle. I can w/o question tell you this bottle sat in a basement for it's entire life w/o windows and a dirt floor here in the northeast, which means, the temp prob never left the 60-70 temp range, as well as hasn't seen sunlight almost 40 years. My question is, what do I do with this bottle. Is someone out there that would seriously appreciate this ? should I sell it ? open it at the thanksgiving table ? Anyway, it seems like a rare bottle and I would imagine someone should really appreciate it. Thanks

Well 1970 is old but not that old at least in spirit time. Blended whisky is made from a recipe that has not changed for many years. Sometimes tweeking happens and there be subtle changes to the blend but for the most part they are very consistant. So having said that and remember if its clear to the eye its probably good to drink. So Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming so I sit down with friends and family and enjoy. Hope this helps.
