I recently acquired a Johnnie Walker Blue Label Lighted Display case. It's quite awesome. What baffles me is the bottle on display. It is sealed and numbered as any proper bottle would be, but it is EMPTY. I have no history on the display case of bottle that came in it. Could this be an advertising display? But with an empty, sealed bottle? After researching for hours, I've found nothing useful and might be a bit dumber now
I figured you guys would be the ones to ask! Any thoughts or insight would be greatly appreciated. I have pictures, but I don't know how to post them on here!

They seem to work just fine if you right click and open the image in a new window. Sorry, I haven't quite gotten the hang of this yet. Last edited by WhskyNovice; 09-16-2011 at 08:36 PM. Reason: Photo links were bad.. trying new ones. |

I reckon it was intended to be empty. In the past the whisky industry used bottles filled with coloured water with an inhibitor to stop it going cloudy but that was stopped in the late 80's early 90's as there was a possibility that it could be drunk, even though there was normally a label that said "for display purposes only - not to be drunk". It was thought that even if the bottle was empty this would be accepted as it was part of a display. These were normally bottles that ran down teh bottling lines but were not filled with whisky. This meant that the bottle was sealed correctly the label would be teh correct one.
Don't worry it's part of the display |
