Hello. I am new to whisky.com, but I am not new to whisky. I come today to inquire about a bottle of JW Red that a purchased a few years ago. I purchased this bottle on an online auction site over 6 years ago. From what I can remember, the person claimed that the bottle was located in the trunk of his grandfather's war trunk. The seller claimed that his grandfather served in WWI. After purchasing the bottle, I brought it to a local liquor store, one that specializes in whisky for an appraisal. Unfortunately, they were unable to tell me how old it was, however they did advise me that the wire around the top of the bottle dated it at least prior to 1940. He stated that he wasn't sure how far back the bottle dated. The bottle sat on my bar for years. I have boxed it away and now want to sell it. I am looking to get approximate time frame of its bottling and approximate value so that I can give an accurate description in my auction. Thanks in advance.
Cheers, Dan |

Dan - based on the wording on the foot label regarding the Royal Warrant `to the late King George V’ and the use of the Striding Man on the bottle, your bottle is dated from c1938.
If you want it valued, try McTears.com or Bonhams.com
