Default I Have Several Bottles Of Older Bowmiore And..

I inhereted sverral bottles or rare Bowmore 's. I need to sell them in a hurry, and need an idea of where would be a good place to sell them in the San Francisco Bay Area. I also would like an idea of the value of these. I have listed them for sale on a couple of website but they seem to all be baised in the UK. The distance, shippinf fees and duty taxes make it very difficult to make a deal.
This is what I have:

1 bottle of Bowmore 22 yr old in the blue ceramic bottle with box.
1 bottle of Bowmore 25 yr old
1 bottle of Bowmore 17 yr old in tube box
1 bottle of Glen Garnich 21 yr old in wood and class box
1 Bottle of Auchentoshan 31 yr old 1965 in wood and glass box
1 Bottle of Bowmore 40 yr old 1955 in a very nice wooden box wit 2 doors and a lock. This one is numbered 251 of 306. The bottle is more of a decantor and is corked and thewre is a glass top in the box. In the box is a engraved brass plack and is all felt lined.

I don't know how to post pic's but I can email them.

Any help with this would be very helpful, I don't want to have to wait for an auction, I really need to sell these bottles very soon and realize they may have to sell for a little less than I would get if I had the more time.

Thank You For Your Help

Greg M.

A quick Google search shows a price on the Bowmore 40yr at ₤5,600.

As for your second question, 'where to sell', I have no idea.

Default Whisky Auction

This looks like a possible resource for buying/selling.

Thank you for the response you guys. This seems to be one of the problems I'm having. Both of these places are in the UK. To get them there there is customs and then there is a duty tax plus if it sell in the UK there is a 20% sales tax. That's allot of taxes plus the auction fees to both buyer and seller. On topof that I don't have that much time as I wiuld be looking at an April auction date.
That bottle for 5600 (GBP) = about $8,900.00 US. That bottle is also a 700ml. The one I have is one of about 30 bottles that were bottled for sale in the states and is a 750ml bottle. So it is really amore rare the the opne for sale at the Whisky Exchange. I need go get about $7,000.00 for the one I have. I think that's a fair price for it. I was told that if someone had the extra time and placed it in the right auction it could bring five figures. The only one I found that sold in San Francisco was in 2008 to the Majestic Hotel,. I don't know the size of that bottle, it sold for $7,500.00 then. From what I can tell whisky prices have gone up since 2008. Anyone that may know of a whisky club or collector in the San Francisco Bay area. I'm thinking I might just have to go to some upper end bar, hotels and resturants. I would really like to see a collector get it. Anyone have any ideas? The other Bowmore's are not ones you can just run to the store and pick up as well.

Exclamation Bowmore 40yr old 1955

I hope my one is the genuine article, at least the printing inside the box and the brass plaque I have are more like the Whisky Exchange and Whisky Online photos rather than the photos posted for 251 elsewhere on the internet and on Ebay.

Default Bowmore 1955 40 year old.

I see on other websites and Ebay that you had to cut the key off and don't have the certificate. The best/only way to prove authenticity is that the distillery hold a duplicate key for each of the 306 produced and it will open the lock. It also states this on the certificate.

I didn't see a picture of the brass plaque on the whisky exchange site. I havn't seen any others. This one is a 750ml bottled for sale in the states. I don't know if that would make a difference as far as the plaque goes. I have had it examened by several experts and all agree it's authentic. It sold for $4,160.00 and is on it's way to Italy. I would be interested to see a picture of yours though.

Default Whisky Collection

Hey there travelin3fun! Contact Rik Pike at Bonham's in NYC - let him know I sent you his way. Discuss with him the possibility of putting your collection up for auction. Rik's info can be found here: http://bonhams.com/usa/whisky/

Good luck - keep us posted!
