This is a pretty cool story. Family friends of mine back in the 20s had a general store, which then turned into a tavern, then a restaurant, and currently is a bar & grill. They had to go into the basement recently (and had not been there in years) and discovered a "hidden" room. The basement is your typical dirt cellar, low ceiling, no lights - creepy kinda place. In this "hidden" room they discovered cases upon cases of unopened whiskey, brandy, etc. The first few bottles they grabbed are:
Haller's Very Rare Blended Whiskey 4/5 Quart 1950 Wilson's Blended Whiskey 1 Quart 1943 Coronet VSP Fine Brandy 4/5 Quart 1942 Carstairs White Seal Blended Whiskey 1966 Old Forester Straight Bourbon Whiskey 1 Quart - Cannot identity date Old Overholt 1 quart 1942 Mount Vernon Straight Rye Whiskey 4/5 Quart 1944 Harwood's Blended Canadian Whiskey 1946 Saturday (weather permitting) we are going to do a complete recon and inventory. Is all of this junk or does it have any value? |
