What Can You Tell Me About This Whisky

This is a bottle of Glendronach 15yr at 40% alc/vol. Its not the current production which is the Glendronach 15yr Revival at 46% alc/vol.

I know that Glendronach has closed and changed hands several times.
What is different? When was this bottled? I'm thinking around 2002 and 2003 when Glendronach last reopened.

My google searches only tell me it is rare.

Hi,

Your bottle was bottled for ~6 years; it is a rare bottling only in the sense that it is not bottled any longer; not that there are only a few around. When Billy Walker acquired Glendronach in 2002, your bottle was released as there were more stocks of 15-year-old whisky than there were of the "used to be" more common 12-year-olds. This went on until the 15-year-old revival was bottled in 2009. The expression that you have was not one of Glendronach's better bottlings. The finish is somewhat bitter and falls off quickly. I agree about the bitterness and additionally I find it a bit cloying. I found 7 auctions of this expression for 2010. The auction results range from EURO 62 ( $82.00 for 700ml bottle ) to EURO 85 ( $112.00 1 liter bottle ). These prices are not out of range for high street prices if this were to be found elusively in a liquor store.

Where did you buy this bottle at that price? Cheapest price that I've seen nationally for a 15 YO is $76. Appreciate the information. Thanks.

So, the NEW bottles of this 15 YO are titled "REVIVAL" and that's how we differentiate the batches???
