Hello all, first time poster, long time lover of Scotch.
I am trying to organize a list for an establishment. They do not want to go by location, but rather by strength, and I use that term very loose. Basically... building on Flavor. I realize that at each level, it will really be a flip flop based on taste and preference. So... if you can or are willing.... how would you list these out? Not in any particular order now Macallan 12 Macallan 18 Macallan 25 Laphroaig 10 Oban 14 Talisker 10 Lagavulin 16 Glennmorangie 10 Glennmorangie 12 Glennmorangie 18 Glenlivet 12 Glenlivet 15 Glenlivet 18 Glenfiddich 12 Glenfiddich 18 Bowmore 12 Cragganmore 12 Balvenie 10 Balvenie 12 Balvenie 15 Balvenie Portwood Dalwhinnie 15 Dalmore 12 Highland Park On a side note: I like to drop 3 blends into the list, Johnny Walker Gold, Green and Blue Have fun, and thanks! |

I would list (as a guideline, but not a rule) the younger Scotches first, but keep in mind taste is so subjective - different views will certainly create different lists. A quick glance and for starters, this is what I came up with....
Glennmorangie 10 Oban 14 Highland Park (you didn't mention year, so I'm figuring a 12 year) Bowmore 12 Glenfiddich 12 Glenlivet 12 Balvenie 10 Cragganmore 12 Macallan 12 Dalmore 12 Talisker 10 The most flavorful Scotches are likely going to be the ones which have matured longer. But I really do hesitate to give a list because this is so subjective.

Interesting take on it.
I was almost dead set on going with some variation of Dalmore, Dalwhinnie, Balvenie 10, Oban... and then building on smokieness and peat from there. |

Your most heavily peated and smokiness - Lagavulin 16, Laphroaig 10 and then Talisker 10. Highland Park also has peat and smoke, but not on the level as the ones just mentioned. Bowmore 12 - smoky, but not peaty. Another heavily peated and smoky Scotch I don't see mentioned is Ardbeg.
