Default Birthdate Whisky

Hello,
I was wondering if someone out there could help me...

My partner is turning 30 early next year and I am trying to find a whisky that was distilled on the exact same date that she was born: 27th January 1981

I've been hunting about the 'net and on various online stores but so far the closest bottle I've been able to find is a Glen Albyn from 16th Jan of that year (close but not quite).

Just wondering if anyone out there has advice on how to search for whisky by a particular distillery date? (I can't be the first person to have had this idea).

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Cheers,
Chris.

Hummm, perhaps this is a more difficult undertaking than I'd first thought. I imagined that someone out there would be able to direct me to a 'secret whisky database'... or something.

Oh well, back to the drawing board.

In the event "Unregistered" returns, I would suggest
contacting Jay at the Party Source for a specific bottle.

An exact month and date might be tough but year
shouldn't be a problem. You may have better luck
if you were to "settle" for distilled (or bottled) in
January 1981.

Hi Silverfish,
thanks for your reply.

I've been asking around a bit now (at local whisky specialists, as well as on the internet), and most people have said the same as you - that a specific date is very hard to find.

Thanks for your lead though, I'll definitely follow it up. Worst case scenario I've found a bottle from January 1981 which I think she'll like.

Cheers,
Chris

Default Age in cask.

Hi,

To find a whisky which was distilled in 1981 and bottled this year would be a 29 year old. Distilleries would rather wait until January onwards then bottle it as a 30 year old.

Due to legal restictions with "Scotch" there is no 30yo from 1981.

You may find 25 yo which would have been bottled in 2006 but it's not the same as a 30yo on a 30th birthday.
