Dear Sirs,
I have a unopened bottle of your scotch dated 1964. Is this a classic? Is it worth anything? Should I wait until its 50 yrs. old? It is in its original case also. Thanks, I look forward in hearing from you. Sincerely, Clay Calhoun |

We have seen it valued between £80-120 in the past. Knockando is part of Diageo's Classic Malts Selection and they recommend you refer to price guides for bottles and antiques or auction sites for a quick market value assessment. Some price guides include Kovel's Bottle Price List (published by Kovel's), Bottle Price Guide by U. Cleveland and Antique Trader. Ebay is also another good source, but we did not see what you're looking for on their site. Another source is Martin at McTear's.
Be sure to have outstanding photos of your bottle of Knockando - anyone you send your request to will certainly want great shot(s). Also, feel free to upload an image here on the Forum.

To be clear - the scotch doesn't age in the bottle - the age that is printed on the bottle is the age of the scotch. Therefore if it is a 18 year old Knockando bottled in 1940, it is still a 18 year old scotch in 2008.
That doesn't mean it may not have collectible value, though. I was always curious about the Knockando - right next door to MacCallan I believe. MBB |
