Hello all. I've been learning a bit recently on older scotches and others. I've only been drinking scotch (and some bourbon) for the past few months, because I found a collection that had been sitting in a basement for a few decades. I took a chance and bought the whole collection, about 18 bottles. Most of them are only worth today's value, but there are a few I'd like to research more. I had two sealed bottles of Jack in the cameo box from '68 that I sold to double my money right off the bat, so I'm happy I took the risk. Now I just want to take my time with the rest of it to learn what to do with it all.
Also, I really enjoy a good scotch. I'm here to learn more about that as well. The ones I'd like to ask questions about, though: I have 5 bottles of Haig & Haig. Two are taller bottles with pinched sides. One of them is out of the box, one is still in and wrapped, so I can not take a picture of the bottle. Both 4/5 quart. The other three of these are the old pinch bottles, all in the original boxes with the wire net still intact. All 5 of these are 86 proof, and all 5 are sealed/full. The next three are bottles of Johnnie Walker Black. One is a 4/5 quart in a white gift box with a silver stamp seal on the front and a scottish green/blue ribbon seal. Someone along the lines opened the box, but the tax stamp is there, bottle is full. There are two bottles that are 1 litre, in gold boxes, tax stamped, sealed. I have pictures of all of this. Sorry for the long post. Pictures will sum up, if it was too long and you didn't read it. |

I sure can!
I've got this bottle of Old Forester in a really cool decanter, with an envelope to mail off to convert it into a lamp for a few bucks, if anyone knows anything about that. Printed on the tax stamp: 05569862 |

Here's that Old Forester.
Apparently I'm also blind. It has two dates on the tax stamp: Made Fall 1958 and Bottled Fall 1964 Last edited by HawkHammer; 03-27-2013 at 04:40 AM. |

I'm not sure I want to sell that one. Trying to learn more about what I have before I do any of they.
