Once a bottle is opened, say Jack Daniels No. 7 is it possible to begin the aging process again in a barrell? Or any Whisky, Scotch, Bourbon?

Here is a link to a fascinating thread on the Ministry of Rum which is about aging and refinishing rum in small oak barrels. The same principals apply to whisky.
Enhancing Rum in Oak Barrels I have 'enhanced" many whiskies in this way using small one litre oak barrels.
