Smile Old Grand Dad Whiskey Made: 1917, Bottled: Spring 1932

Wanting to know how much this is worth:

I have a case of One Pint glass bottles of Old Grand Dad, Pure Straight Whiskey: The American Medicinal Spirits Company, Inc, USA. Each bottle is sealed, in the original box and the seal says: 100 proof - Bottled: Spring 1932, Made: Spring 1917.

And What is the best way to go about selling this product.

thank you for any input!

Default Old Grand Dad pints

The best way to go about selling these is to first have them appraised for condition & valuation....this will tell you what they as worth both as individual bottles, and as a case lot. (I have represented several sellers with case lots over the past few years, and found that often times to the right buyers, the full case can be worth more than the total of the single bottles: Currently I have 4 active collectors who are looking to acquire "full cases" of older whiskies.)

When it comes to actually selling them, it is often best to sell them direct to a private collector (as long as you know before-hand what they are worth), as this avoids alot of the usual fees (up to 30% of the final selling price) and the extreme problems with shipping concerns.

NOTE: There are very few shippers actually licensed & approved to handle high-proof spirits transportation, and shipping them without proper disclosure will revoke any insurance on the shipment & could potentially lead to legal consequences.

Most true collectors will be willing to pay fair market price for such items, as they "win" simply by not having to risk the prospect of losing some of the bottles to another bidder...Collectors of this caliber are very interested in the complete case, not so much on a partial case.

If you would like to have your bottles appraised by someone experianced in the vintage spirits business, please contact me directly and I will respond to your email promptly.

It will be necessary to have several clear photographs of the bottles, boxes & original case in order to give you a proper valuation on them...Particularly important areas to photograph are the Front & Back Labels, the Cap/Cork-area of the bottles, and a clear shot of the "fill-level" of the contents.

If there is anything I can do to assist you further in this, be it an appraisal or negotiating a sale for you, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Cheers,
