Hi,
I'm interested in purchasing the "John Walker" from Johnnie Walker (the newest of the blue label blend). Only thing I'm concerned about is it's production numbers. Originally I remember it was supposed to be limited to 330 bottles. Then I read it was 330 bottles per cask, but they never mentioned how many casks they had or how often it would be released? Reason I'm wondering is because when it was released, it was supposedly sold out in most international markets (Australia, Japan, etc.). But I've been through a few dfs and it's commonly available. Even whiskyexchange has a bottle on sale for a discount. Anyone have any insight into this? Thanks |

As far as I know JW Blue is a "standard" brand i.e. one that will be bottled every year although in smallish numbers although these numbers may, or most probably will, increase over the years. Most companies talk about "small runs" which normally means they only have a limited amount of whisky to bottle currently but as each year goes by they will bottle more and more.
If you want limited editions then look for those special bottlings that say something like "bottle number 123 of 1234" then you know that there will only be that number of bottles available. If you Google Laphroaig Cairdeas 30 Year Old you will see what I mean |

I think you're mixing up standard JW Blue label (~$200) which is commonly available globally with the JW Blue Label 200th Anniversary Limited Edition, which is a cask strength special edition of "blue label". It is limited to 330 bottles and sells for around $3000.
There are JW 200th bottles still available for sale in the US. The standard JW Blue may in fact be quite "limited" in it's production as well, but it's not limited enough to effect availability, and it seems to be regularly produced. Cheers.

Ok, sorry. I forgot all about this when it was announced a couple years ago. A few more minutes of research and I rediscovered the John Walker from Johnnie Walker. It looks like a new version of the 200th anniversary and appears to be a cask strength vatted malt blend as well. It was only available in limited editions of 330 bottles as it is additionally married together in a 100 year old cask. According to their press release, they plan to release multiple editions. "No two batches will ever be exactly the same." It may have been discontinued. Interestingly it also sold for $3000. It doesn't appear to be currently for sale anywhere, but you can still pick up the strictly limited 200th at a discount! Very unusual. I'm sure the 2 are essentially the same, though not "exactly" the same.

Hi, well I bought 2 copies of the special collections of the Walker Jonh Baccarat bottle engraved in gold casket in a limited edition of 330 copies rooted in the world only 15 for the Italian market.
After a while I began to doubt given the large number of bottles that go around the world who are definitely not 330. I am interested in having any information about it, especially in the mode of sale. thanks |

I fear you are right Kenneth. they will introduce a second cask as the original 330 bottles from the first cask are sold. this of course does depend on sell through at retail level as shops will not continue to take them if they can't move them - the DFS shops at LHR, Hong Kong etc.. still have them and there are several distributors in the US who have them available. Hope this helps Frans
