Thumbs up Jack Daniel's Tasting Series

IN ITS SECOND YEAR, “THE ART OF”, AN EDUCATIONAL TASTING SERIES
CONTINUES ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 20, WITH “THE ART OF JACK DANIEL’S”

The fun and educational tasting series, “The Art of” will begin its second year on Thursday, October 20, with “The Art of Jack Daniel’s.” During “The Art of” series, local experts will guide an informative and educational tasting highlighting the history, use and unique flavors of each featured product. The series includes “The Art of Jack Daniel’s” on Thursday, October 20, “The Art of Yazoo Brewery” on Thursday, February 23, and “The Art of Corsair Distillery” on Thursday, April 5.

The first event of the series, “The Art of Jack Daniel’s”, will take place on Thursday, October 20, at 6:00 p.m. and include tastings of the world-famous Tennessee distillery’s family of brands: Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, Gentleman Jack, Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel and the new Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey. The tasting experience will be led by Jeff Norman, the distillery’s Master Taster. A native of Lynchburg, the home of the distillery, Jeff received his Ph.D. in environmental chemistry in 2003 and then returned home to work for the company - beginning as a still man and working up to Master Taster. “It’s funny to see the reaction I get from people when I tell them what I do,” Norman admits. “Most people find it hard to believe that I actually taste whiskey each morning before I have my first cup of coffee – in order to taste with a clean palate.” Following the tasting, patrons will be invited to enjoy food catered by Jim and Nick’s BBQ.

“The Art of Yazoo Brewery” will take place on Thursday, February 23, and highlight the local Nashville brewery, which was founded by Linus Hall in 2003. Those in attendance will learn about the art of making beer, the inspiration behind each unique and delicious flavor, and taste everything from the even-bodied Pale Ale to the dark, smokey porter called Sue. This tasting will be lead by Yazoo Brew Master, Linus Hall.

During the last tasting of the series, “The Art of Corsair Distillery” on Thursday, April 5, patrons will learn more about the Corsair Artisan Distillery, a small craft sprits company with distilleries in Bowling Green, Kentucky and Nashville, Tennessee founded by Nashville natives Darek Bell and Andrew Webber. Known for their very small batches of spirits (just a few cases at a time, in pot stills), everything being done by hand (from production to bottling), Corsair is able to provide interesting and flavorful spirits: Vanilla Bean Vodka, Spiced Rum, Red Absinthe, Wry Moon Unaged Rye Whiskey, and more. At this event, attendees will taste some of the Distillery’s latest batches of spirits and learn recipes to make tasty cocktails.

Held on Thursdays in historic War Memorial Auditorium, “The Art of” series is the perfect way to learn more about spirits and beer in a casual, non-intimidating environment.

Attend all three events for $75 and become an Artful Taster, which includes a discount and premium seating at each event, or buy individual tasting events for $30 each. Tickets go onsale Friday, August 26 at 10 AM. All proceeds benefit TPAC Education. Purchase online at tpac.org/theartof, at the TPAC Box Office (downtown at 505 Deaderick Street, the new Satellite box office in the Mall at Green Hills) or by calling 615-782-4040.

The Art of is proudly sponsored by Lipman Brothers, Brown-Forman, Yazoo Brewery, Corsair Distillery, and Lightning 100 with all proceeds benefit TPAC’s education programs.
