Hello, I am new to this forum and have a couple of questions. I am no longer able to drink and have two bottles of Scotch that I am wanting to sell if possible. My first question, does anyone know of any online auction sites for liquor? My second question, would anyone know the approximate price of a Glenlivet Cask Strength 34 year old, and a Macallan Cask Strength 36 year old? Any help would be appreciated.

Ebay is an option for you. Can you either post photos of your Glenlivet and Macallan or send them directly to me at Joanne (at) CCIN.com ? If you send them to me, please be sure to put 'Whisky.com' in the subject line. Also, be sure to get clear shots of the label, the closure and the entire bottle. Once we get the pix, we'll go from there!

So, since you recommended selling P. Parker71's whisky on ebay, does that mean it is not illegal to do so?

It is illegal to sell any liquor on ebay, what you sell is the packaging and if the bottle's still sealed then it's happenstance. You must declare on the listing that the bottle is being sold without regard for the contents.
I know of many people who have bought high priced bottles which have been faked, normally the correct labels on a cheap variant of the brand. There's no comeback as you are only buying the packaging and, unless you can prove the seller is employed by whisky company, there's no comeback from the bottler. If I was buying I'd go on the feedback [and make sure that he had been registered for a number of years]. If your the seller and really haven't sold on ebay before then I'd recommend selling in an auction. |

I've bought and sold spirits on Ebay with no issues BUT that doesn't mean that there aren't crooks operating within the system of Ebay. The very high priced items[greater than several hundred dollars should be studied closely especially if you don't know what the correct packaging looks like] need to be scrutinized. Look up Google and see if the bottle shows up at an independent source for example. Good luck in your endeavour!
